RAMAPO LITTLE LEAGUE
PONY DIVISION RULES
The Pony division is instructional and recreational in nature. It should build
on skills learned in Tee-Ball, teach skills to be used in the Ponies while
preparing players for the Rookie Division.
EMPHASIS SHOULD BE PLACED ON SKILL TRAINING!!! (TAKE THE TIME TO PRACTICE AND PROMOTE THE IMPORTANCE OF THE RIGHT MECHANICS)
· There will be a two (2) hour time limit on regular season games measured from
the start of the game.
· Players shall be put in their proper positions (1st base, 2nd base, shortstop, etc.)
during each game (Optional --- 4 player Outfield is permitted). Coach catcher is optional. Kid catcher must wear equipment (provided).

· Managers or coaches will pitch the entire game.
· Manager/coach will coach 1st and 3rd bases.
· Parents, relatives, or friends, are not allowed in the dugout or field during the
course of a game or pre-game warm-ups. Failure to adhere to this rule may
result in the suspension of the manager for 1 game. Repeated violations may
incur a longer suspension.
· Swinging strikes will be called and will count towards a strikeout.
· Balls will not count towards a walk because of the managers/coaches pitching.
· Each 1/2 inning will end when the team at bat has 3 outs, each player has batted,
or the team has scored 5 runs.
· There is no stealing.
· Sliding is permitted (not head first) and should be done to avoid a collision with the
catcher.
· A player running to 1st base may advance to 2nd on an overthrow (at his/her own
risk).
· A player may continue to advance on a ball hit to the outfield. When the ball is
thrown back to the infield, any player not more than halfway to the next base,
must return to the prior base. If more than halfway, the player may advance at
his/her own risk.
· There are no standings or playoffs in the Pony division.
· Rainouts will be made up with help from the division commissioner based on available field time.
- Players should bring equipment, glove, bat, and helmet. Cups should be worn and heart gaurds should be encouraged.
- No Food in the dugout areas and coaching staff will be sure dugout areas are clean at the end of games.
