Rookie A Rules
- Players will pitch 6 pitches to each batter. If the ball is not put into play or an out is not recorded, a coach from the team at bat will finish pitching the AB.
- A coach from the team at bat will stand behind the pitcher and call strikes.
- If the coach who is pitching throws a strike, it is a called strike.
- There are NO BALLS and NO WALKS.
- Pitch Counts – 50 pitch limit per player. If you reach 50 pitches in the middle of an at bat, you can finish the at bat.
**If a player throws 36 to 50 pitches, they must rest 2 calendar days.
**If a player throws 21 to 35 pitches, they must rest 1 calendar day
**If a player throws 1 to 20 pitches, they can pitch the next calendar day
**Any player who plays the position of catcher for 4 or more innings is not eligible to pitch that day. (1 pitch constitutes an inning of catching)
**If a player pitches 40 pitches they cannot catch that day.
**Coaches on both teams are responsible to keep a tally of pitch counts.
- A half inning ends after 3 outs or 5 runs.
- Each team plays no more than 9 players on the field at once. You can play with less. No forfeits.
- NO BUNTING
- Each team can steal 2 times an inning in the following combinations only (2 steals of third or 1 steal of third and 1 steal of home)
- Everyone bats in the batting order. Please have a set lineup for each game and keep a book.
- Coaches must remain in the dugout. No coaches are allowed on the field except for the coach who will be pitching.
- Please continuously move play along. Stay in the batters box, run on and off the field, etc. We want to complete 6 innings in 1 ½ hours, if possible.
- Please allow players to play multiple positions. Please do not have a set first baseman, shortstop, etc.
